Actually, this page's design is derived from the classic "Masu" origami gift box design.Because conventional origami doesn't employ cuts, I've tweaked it a little. I have, however, attempted to make boxes both methods, and the version with the cuts always turns out more neatly. That's the version I'll present to you now.vi(The one-piece box with built-in lid is a great option if you're an origami purist and prefer a design without any cuts.)

What Makes This Package Unique?

Perfectly fitting lid: According to some other online directions, you should construct the lid from a little larger piece of paper in the same manner as the base. However, when you seal the box, the cover totally engulfs the base, making it difficult to open! So let me demonstrate to you how to create a present box that fits properly, like the one in the page's header image. The design of the lid was really created by my husband. (He works as an engineer.)

No unsightly creases: The folding technique outlined here ensures that there won't be any noticeable creases on the base or lid of your box, leaving it looking immaculate and lovely.

Optional division: If you want to use your box to house little food gifts like truffles, I'll also show you how to construct an optional partition.

Gift Box Divider In Video

This is a link to a non-mine video that I found that demonstrates how to construct the optional internal divider. The divider should be made using the same size paper as you used to create the box's base.Image. Guidelines for the Box Base Thin card, around the same thickness as a greeting card, works well for this design. Indeed, you may even use last year's Christmas Boxes cards to create your own gift boxes.Sizing: Your box will measure around 4 by 4 by 2 inches, or the same as a tie box, if you construct it from a 12-inch square.

Using a square piece of paper, cut the side lengths to be one-third of an inch (1 cm) shorter than the piece you'll use for the lid to create the base. However, use a square whose side lengths are two thirds of an inch (2 cm) shorter than the lid piece if you're using really thick card.
