Lauren Conrad's Book Edible Obsession: Holiday Christmas Box Cake Decorating Ideas

Recipe Addiction: Festive Cake Decorating Inspiration Now that the holidays are approaching, I've been baking like crazy. However, for those of you who might not be as fond of your oven, I'm going to share with you today two easy cake decorating techniques that will make even a store-bought cake look amazing and make everyone say, "Wow!" It's up to you if you want to go fancy in the kitchen. However, many of these decoration techniques just call for a very basic cake as the foundation. I started with a flourless chocolate cake for the second one, and I used a simple chocolate layer cake for the first. You might purchase a cake from your neighborhood bakery or prepare your own using a boxed mix (my friend Lauren Lowstan baked these two for me). What really makes it unique is what you do with it thereafter. See my two suggestions for Christmas Box Cake below! Explosion christmas box cake

It's better to have less. As the saying goes, anyway. But as this christmas box cake Explosion Cake proves, sometimes more really is more. You will want to collect all the cutest christmas box cake trinkets you can find for this cake decorating idea. Consider tiny gifts, candy canes, miniature string lights, jingle bells, tinsel, and miniature deer figurines. After that, heap it on! This cake can basically be topped in any way you choose. You want everything to appear somewhat haphazard and if christmas box cake has "exploded." With this one, my editors and I had a very good time! Note: While this is obviously a lot of fun to showcase, you should make sure that all of the trinkets are correctly removed from your cake before serving it to your guests. This is especially important if there are small children around who could choke on the tiny pieces.

I suggest following this internet lesson if you lose your memory of how to create a paper snowflake. (It demonstrates how to fold paper correctly and other things.) Once you have a snowflake that you are happy with, all you have to do is use it as a stencil to decorate your cake with snowflakes made of powdered sugar. Place the paper snowflake on top of the cake and sprinkle powdered sugar on top in a gentle manner using a sifter. Once it's well coated with sugar, carefully take off the stencil, and it's done!
